Chevening TCS Cyber Security Programme


Objective of the Programme
The objective of the Chevening TCS Cyber Security Programme is to enhance participants’ ability to contribute to public policy on cyber security, by providing an understanding of the implications of alternative policy and legislative approaches (for national security, commercial opportunity, crime prevention, and freedom of expression and the right to privacy). 

The course will be delivered at Cranfield University and will focus on the following areas:

  • Cyber threats, including: the threat landscape, threat and risk assessment, the implications for national security, and the relevance of internet governance structures; and the protection of critical national infrastructure;
  • The economics of online business,  cyber security consumer awareness and consumer protection, technology adoption challenges, the relevance of open source, and effective technology adoption by consumers;
  • Cyber crime and Internet law, including the economic impact of cyber crime, domestic and international approaches to countering cyber crime, Internet law, law enforcement concerns, privacy concerns, the use and abuse of social media, and accountability in cyberspace;Relevant issues and challenges particular to the UK and India.

Each Fellowship will include:

  • Full programme fees
  • Living expenses for the duration of the Fellowship
  • Return airfare from India to UK
  • Reimbursement of UK Student Visitor Visa fee

Eligibility Criteria

  • An excellent academic background in science, engineering or technology or considerable experience of working in such fields (min seven years)
  • At least seven years’ work experience by the time they apply and at least five more working years ahead after the end of the programme
  • Work experience in Cyber Security/Cyber Policy issues either as a policy formulator, commentator or academic
  • An excellent academic background in science, engineering or technology or considerable experience of working in such fields (min seven years)
